To those who have wrestled with your God, it is time to step back from the fight. Take a step back and allow yourself to get your breath back. Step back from the push-pull of allowing Him close… but not that close. Look at yourself: test your limbs, flex your muscles – see how stiff you have become… you may even be limping. The effects of your wrestling may even have manifested physically in hip, leg and lower back pain. Ask yourself, ‘have I been resisting my loving Father God for too long?’ He wants to draw close, He desires a deeper relationship and intimacy with you. Your resistance only limits your movement, it will never stop His desire to be close to you. Your feelings of unworthiness have caused you to resist receiving the fullness of His love, His acceptance for you.
And Father God whispers to you as you step back from the fight. ‘Have a seat with me, my dear child. Let us end this wrestle. My Son’s blood, shed for you, has made you worthy to draw close to me. Will you stop resisting? Will you allow me to bring you rest, healing and restoration?’
Hebrews 10:19-23
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
