I saw a potter, sitting at his wheel with a lump of clay in his hands. As the wheel began to turn, he lifted up the clay and dropped it onto the centre of the wheel with intension and precision. As the wheel kept turning, he gently cupped his hands around the clay and began to stretch and shape it until it became a perfectly shaped vessel.
You are in a season of being stretched and shaped by God. He is the Master Potter and He alone knows how to make something out of what seems like nothing.
Just like the clay that is kept spinning on the wheel as it is being shaped, you have felt a little disorientated as life and circumstances have spun around you, causing you to feel out of control and sometimes unable to focus. The Lord wants to remind you that, even as you are in this shaping season, His hands are always on you – just as the potter’s hands never let go of the clay. He has you firmly and securely in his grip.
Don’t run and hide away from the process that God has you in right now, but rejoice that He is changing you from glory to glory as He shapes you into a vessel fit for His glory and presence.
But now, O Lord, you are our Father, we are the clay, and you our potter; and all of us are the work of your hand.
