1 Kings 8:10-13
When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.
Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”
When the thick cloud of glory of the Lord descends on a place it stops everything; all projects, processes and schemes have to go on hold. Even the temple priests, who were schooled, trained and experienced in the ways of God, had to stop their business when the cloud filled the temple. This glory is what you want to focus on, and not all the distractions that will come at you from all sides.
And be under no illusion: in the year ahead there will a constant bombardment of bad news, fear-mongering and a newsfeed of that contains every opinion except that of the Lord. This is the satan’s reaction to the ever-increasing knowledge of the glory of the Lord, which is covering the earth in greater and greater measure, year-on-year, just as Habukkuk prophesied.
So who will counter all that is dark and depressing in this war of words? God’s solution is YOU: Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
Prepare yourself to shine anew and afresh, because He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14)
Whose report will you believe? Believe the good news, which will reach and transform more lives this year than in any previous year in history.
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.
