Come to me all who are weary! I see, I know and I feel your weariness at this time. Come to me and rest awhile. Don’t say, “I’ve so much to do with people to see and places to be!” Just STOP, sit down, invite me into your situation, ask me to help you and guide you. Together, we can prioritise your ‘to do’ list; then you can work on it and stick with it.

Today, will you just allow me to love on you? I made you a ‘human being’ NOT a ‘human doing’! I know you have lots to do and many responsibilities. I am not telling you to walk away, but I’m asking you to change your perspective. I want you to ‘work from rest’ NOT ‘rest from work’! Quite different, don’t you think? But it’s very effective; just trust me.

Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

  1. I signed up for your Lion Bites late this afternoon and read your “Bite” for today where Jesus says “Come to me and rest awhile”. Earlier in the day I had taken part in a time of Encounter Prayer online and during the encounter I received the bible passage “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him” and I sensed Jesus saying to me “Rest in Me and wait patiently for Me”. He also gave me a sense of how, over the next few days, He was going to show me what it really means to “rest in Him”. Your word which I read later was such a confirmation. Thank you.

  2. Thank you. This is just what I needed to hear. Can you please have a Power Hour on how to “rest” in God and let him do things. And on how to get past the disappointments. And emotional rejection. Thank you. God Bless.
