I was reminded of a vision I had years ago where the Lord was dressed in battle array. All I could see were His eyes – a blazing fire – and He repeated over and over again: “I love them, I love them, I love them”, referring to His children. I asked God, “But what about Your glory?” He resounded “My love is my glory!”
Today I asked, “Why remind me of this old encounter, instead of giving fresh revelation?” He responded,” I am the same yesterday, today and forevermore! I am a jealous God, and I will execute my judgment on the idols of the nations who make my children believe that I don’t love them! I am coming afresh in this season to destroy these idols in their hearts, and I will depose the lies of rejection from loving false gods. I will be the first love of my people again, and they will burn in passion for me just as the furnace of my heart burns for them!”
Ezekiel 14:4-5 NIV
Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry. I will do this to recapture the hearts of the people of Israel, who have all deserted me for their idols.’
Exodus 34:14 NIV
Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Revelation 1:14 NIV
The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
