Finding joy the process – your Lion Bites word for today

How impatient must the occupants of the ark been for the water to recede and to step onto the dry ground of the new earth? How desperate must they have been to escape the confines and the trials of that forty day/forty night season on the stormy waters?

Genesis 8:8-10
Then [Noah] sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.

Our God, who is older than time itself and who is the Beginning and the End, is right now more interested in your process than the end you are seeking. We fret over our delayed promises and the breakthroughs that feel like they take an eternity to come. We send out ‘ravens’ and ‘doves’ to test if the time has come and spend our time preoccupied with what has not happened, rather than was is happening. But Jesus Christ, who is in on your side and who is cheering you on to win, is concerned with your ‘right now’ – who and how you are this moment.

Today He comes to bring a new sense of joy for the journey, so that you might not forget who you are and who He is, even in the midst of your waiting. Open yourself up to a new release of His peace and allow a deep contentedness to wash over you, knowing that God has not forgotten the end or the promise but is more pleased that you would pursue Him and find His joy in the process.

Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
