Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”
Glory to God in the highest heaven! God’s word gives us occasional glimpses, as if through the curtains of heaven, to see and hear the angels and heavenly creatures in their ecstatic praise of the King of Kings. If our ears were windows to the songs and sounds in our heads, what would be the phrases and stanzas that are echoing around in our minds? Can you hear your spirit praising God, giving Him glory and praise?
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you do a scan of the themes that have got into your head and need to be replaced by high praise of the King of Kings. The world pollutes our minds with ungodly mantras, jingles and beliefs that are less than the best that God has for us. But you were made to give God the glory. Fill your head with high praise of the King of Kings!
Glory, glory! Give God the glory! His favour rests on us. Let’s give Him all our praise!
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
