Inspect the Battlements – your Lion Bites word for today

Just as a captain of old would inspect the battlements of his fortress, or a farmer checks and maintains the fences and hedges that surround his land, so Holy Spirit is ready to take a walk with you round the ‘walls’ of your personal world. He invites you to thoroughly examine your life, shining a torch of light on all the nooks and crannies, in order that you can take stock of any areas of vulnerability or weakness, areas that need worked and strengthened, holes or gaps that the thief might be able to sneak in to steal from you and any foundations that are not secure and need shoring up with truth.

Be assured, however, God is not looking to condemn you and He is NOT walking around with a red pen, scoring you and disqualifying you. On the contrary, He is there to help. Jesus is the good shepherd, who feeds, cares and protects His flock. He sent His Spirit to help and empower you.
 
So do not allow this process to become anything other than a Very Good Thing! The more willing you are to shine His light on areas that need repair, the more you will enjoy greater levels of wholeness and victory in this life.

Nehemiah 2:13
By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.

Nehemiah 3:13
The Valley Gate was repaired by Hanun and the residents of Zanoah. They rebuilt it and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place. They also repaired a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the Dung Gate.

Leviticus 14:33-42
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a spreading mould in a house in that land, the owner of the house must go and tell the priest, ‘I have seen something that looks like a defiling mould in my house.’ The priest is to order the house to be emptied before he goes in to examine the mould, so that nothing in the house will be pronounced unclean. After this the priest is to go in and inspect the house. He is to examine the mould on the walls, and if it has greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be deeper than the surface of the wall, the priest shall go out the doorway of the house and close it up for seven days. On the seventh day the priest shall return to inspect the house. If the mould has spread on the walls, he is to order that the contaminated stones be torn out and thrown into an unclean place outside the town. He must have all the inside walls of the house scraped and the material that is scraped off dumped into an unclean place outside the town. Then they are to take other stones to replace these and take new clay and plaster the house.
