Look out and see what I see. I am a God of compassion and my heart is with the poor and needy, the lost and the lonely. Their need cries out to me in the night, their pain in the day.
See them as I see them. Do not close your eyes. For as I nurture you, you must nurture them. As I am full of compassion for you, you are to be full of compassion for them. My love must flow through you. This is how I planned it for my people who are called by my name: that, as I fill you with good things and continually bless you, you will have a heart of flesh, not a heart of stone. That you will lift your hand to fill the hands of the widows, the orphans and the strangers, the lost and the cold and the lonely.
Ezekiel 36:26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Luke 10:33-35
But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
