Out of the Box – your Lion Bites word for today

The Lord wants to ‘…complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you’ 1 Peter 5:10b

How often have you heard the expression ‘out of the box’ used?

Your business may be struggling, so you bring in a friend to help you, or go to a seminar to get some assistance. You are exhorted, ‘What if you try thinking out of the box?’ In other words – try some new idea, some new way of thinking or some new way to do things.

Even in the church these days we may wrestle against decline and look to rekindle the spark of yesterday. ‘What can we do?’, people ask. ‘Think outside of the box?’

But today the Holy Spirit tells you to, ‘Think again!’ What is IN your box is of greatest importance.

First consider the essentials of your faith and get back to the basics of the gospel. Remember who you are! Assure yourself again of the importance of regeneration – being born again of the Spirit:

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:3,5-8

You who believe in the powerful life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are born again! With this heart conversion we can have a mind transformation:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

So, settle and establish what is in ‘your box’ and then you be better ready to partner with the new things that Christ is about to do through you in the world. This will certainly be ‘out of the box’!
