Standing Steadfast

The Lord showed me a vision of a deep ravine. At the bottom of the ravine flowed a raging river. I could hear the thunder of its passage as it raged along and through the ravine.

Downstream, a bridge arches over the river, just above the raging torrent. The middle of the bridge is supported by a single column of stone which is built into the bedrock of the river. The column has a shaped front-edge, sheared to a knife point and facing upstream against the onslaught of the river. The column stands steadfast to the full power of the raging, foaming torrent.

As the flow hits the bridge, the water is sliced by the edge of the column and is cut in two – the raging water is forced around the column on both sides. It flows on but no harm comes to the bridge… it stands sure and steadfast

In the raging waters of life many things will come at you. But do not fear for you have been moulded and shaped by the Master’s hands to stand against the trials and attacks that come your way. Be assured today that you will stand as the raging waters foam about you.

So, as the river roars around you …put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand!

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
