Turn your back on anything that is hindering your walk with God. Let go of all that is slowing you down or preventing you from journeying in the deep places of His presence.
I saw an explorer, trekking through a dry and arid place. He came upon a cleft in the rock face and squeezed in, following the path of the crevice, further and further into the rock. As he got further into this gorge, vegetation began to grow on the rock walls and beneath his feet – exotic plants and flowers of all descriptions and varieties. So that he could squeeze himself through, he shed his load – removing his backpack and heavy boots… even discarding the parachute that had trailed behind him and was snagging on the rock and holding him back. He no longer needed the synthetic, padded jacket that he’d worn for protection and warmth.
As he journeyed deeper along this narrow path, the gorge widened out a little into a fertile valley with steep sides… a jungle of colour, sounds, wonderful things to see, touch, sense and experience. This was a place of refreshing and delight… well off the beaten track and only accessible to those who were ready to let go of anything and everything that was unnecessary.
