A Remedy for Weariness and Unfruitfulness – your Lion Bites word for today

There is a spirit of weariness in this present age that has very little to do with actual tiredness but a lot to do with unrepentant, sinful behaviour and a lack of truth in these days.

They all fool and defraud each other; no one tells the truth. With practiced tongues they tell lies; they wear themselves out with all their sinning. (Jeremiah 9:5)

Sin is exhausting and lying/hearing lies will wear you out. Be careful who you listen to, even those who purport to speak from a ‘trusted’ source. What ideas, thoughts and emotions are you filling your head with because of what you watch, listen to and think about. Are you exhausted because sin is all around your life?

And you may even have to ask yourself the difficult question: ‘Lord Jesus, is there sin and rebellion in my life that is slowly draining all energy from me and preventing me from seeing fruit?

My people have planted wheat but are harvesting thorns. They have worn themselves out, but it has done them no good. They will harvest a crop of shame because of the fierce anger of the LORD. (Jeremiah 12:13)

The Old Covenant people of God found that life away from God’s good and perfect will was draining and unproductive:

You will plant crops but not harvest them. You will press your olives but not get enough oil to anoint yourselves. You will trample the grapes but get no juice to make your wine. (Micah 6:15)

But there is hope for the weary and it is found in Jesus! ‘Come to me’, He says, ‘and I will give you rest!’ It’s time to deal with that weariness! Go to Jesus, repent of the sin in your life and receive His rest.

John 4:34-36
Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!
