Don’t keep digging in the wrong place – your Lion Bites word for today

The Spirit of the Lord asks, ‘Are you digging in the wrong field?’ Are you trying to gather in a harvest from a planting that isn’t yet ready to bear fruit? In God’s creation there is always a period of time between sowing and reaping, between fertilisation and birth. The Lord has used you to sow seeds in many different areas but you have become so focused on the one patch of ground where you’re not seeing the green shoots that you’ve discouraged and wearied yourself.

Don’t be like a foolish farmer who digs up the seeds from the soil to see if they have sprouted yet, or an inexperienced baker who opens the oven door too soon to check if the cake has risen. Instead, be yielded to the Spirit of God, who will direct you to the correct field for the correct time of harvest and the correct field for sowing at the right time… and who will steer you away from those places that are fallow or even barren, that you might not waste your efforts.

Be encouraged, there is a harvest and there is ripe fruit – but you need to look with from heaven’s perspective and strategy to see it and reap it.

John 4:34-38
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labour.”
