Memorial Stones – your Lion Bites word for today

Joshua 4:4-7
So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the sons of Israel, one man from each tribe; and Joshua said to them, “Cross again to the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel. Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ then you shall say to them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.

God says, ‘It’s time to look at your memorial stones. It’s time to recall all of the things that I have done in your life and remember my goodness towards you.’

You have come through a season that has been hard and was difficult to celebrate with its many battles – and you have the battle scars to show for it. This has brought a level of weariness and a lower expectation than you once had.

But I, the Lord will not allow for you to go through more than you can handle, and so that season is coming to an end.

This is the time to build up your faith and to gradually lift your gaze and your expectations. So I say to you, ‘Bring to your remembrance my faithfulness towards you, recall your memorial stones. Look to the ways in which I have moved in your life and even in the lives of others (because I am no respecter of persons), and look to my word and let your foundations be strengthened for what I am about to do in your life. Recall your memorial stones.

Joshua 4:23-24
For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed, just as the LORD your God had done to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed; that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, so that you may fear the LORD your God forever.
